Our Mission

Be The Difference SCV was created as a comprehensive public campaign to increase awareness and understanding of mental illness, to support mental wellness, and to prevent suicides.

Anyone can have mental health challenges, regardless of age, sex, race, or economic status. In fact, 1 in 5 adults are affected by mental illness. While mental health challenges (and recovery from those issues) are common, people with a mental illness often experience judgment or unfair treatment by others.

Mental health is health and mental illness will affect us all at some point in our lives, either directly or through those we know and care about. Each of us can play a role in helping ourselves and others by learning, listening and talking. We can each be the difference in someone’s life.

If you or someone you know is in emotional distress, may be thinking about suicide, or is worried about a loved one or friend, contact the 988 SUICIDE & CRISIS LIFELINE. This hotline operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the United States. Your call will be directed to your local crisis center where counselors will provide support and connect you with the appropriate resources.

We invite you to explore this website to learn how you can find help, assist those who are struggling, read the signs of those with suicidal intention, and shatter the stigma attached to mental illness. Our extensive list of resources will guide you to additional information and organizations that provide direct assistance.
